A Nonprofit Charitable Charity

*
Okay all my fellow readers, yes ladies and gentlemen and dogs. No really I have dogs reading my posts too, like Desert Pups. lol Okay and even if you don't feel you are a lady or gentleman read this anyway!! :)

I have been asked to do Donors Choose and I would like your help to pick some subjects/projects. I thought it would be nice for my readers to choose their passion is in these matters that you would like to see funded.

This is a nonprofit organization that raises money for schools that need help. Kirk will keep working on my challenge page, adding projects continually adding to my page until the end of Oct. This is a legit site that gets their requests from teachers all over the United States.

So let me know if their is a project you would like me to feature on my page. Like from your state, city, what grades, subject anything you can think of, let me know and I can look it up and add it to my challenge page.

Kirk reminded me I should tell you Please Donate through My Challenge Page by the link below or the widget at the top of the left sidebar.

You can donate as little as $5 or however much and to your 1 favorite project or to as many as you want.

IT'S UP, IT'S UP and READY TO GO!!! http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/viewChallenge.html?id=19148

Thanks for all your help!! :)

There are too many to choose from, but I am a big believer in supporting gifted and talented education. There are many gifted programs in needy areas of the countryt hat could produce great minds if only they were better supported. Here is an example of one that I support:

http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=189852&zone=0

is is called 'Literature That will Challenge and Motivate Gifted Students'. I chose this because it is a request for a library of Mary pope Osborne's 'Magic Treehouse' books. i love this series and believe it really expands kids thinhking skills, knowledge of the world, and reading skills.

I don't know that i can personally donate money, but I would love to do an 'extra' blog on my site one day to direct readers over there. just let me know when your page is up and I will gladly let my readers know about it.

And good luck, by the way ;-)

@ 80smom, thank you for your choice, don't worry about donating or not, you helped pick and that was all I asked.
Thank you for your support on doing a post about this, I will definitely let you know as soon as my page is created.

I vote for "Learning on Cloud Nine", but then I'm prejudiced! lol... it's for my own town - Lakeland, FL.

I am a professional juggler of what I refer to as 'creative banking', so I know what it's like to not be able to donate...but I'm going to chip in $5 as soon as I can. It's not much, but compared to what I have in my bank account, it's about 65% of my assets, so if you look at it that way, I'm giving ALOT! : )

I think it's a wonderful thing for the American people to help out.
But it makes me so mad what our goverment is doing with our tax money from property tax ect..
Again what are they thinking if they cut back on education so when other countries say we are stupid and lasy that's what they want. I've heard from many mothers and the media that it's mandatory even for parents to buy toilet paper ect..
I'm a homeschool teacher I believe we should go back to the old fashion ways, have your town get together with home classes. Alternating parents as teachers, who are able. Also parents teach their specialty. This is what we did when we were in Montana. We even paid some parents for the supplies like art, science ect. In what's happening in our economy it would be a solution.

My picks are:
1. "Must Have Books to Learn to Read" - Mrs.J's class in High Poverty, Kentucky.

2. "Marvelous Mathematical Minds" - Ms. F's classroom in High Poverty, Kentucky.

I am a teacher myself, so I know how much these basics are needed. I will come back so I can donate once your site is ready.

@ Live In Luxe, thank you. Donors Choose does have so many awesome programs/projects for the schools and so many awesome teachers that wrote in to help their kids.

@ Lakelandmom, Hey there is nothing wrong with picking from your own state or city if they are on the site, then they need help like everyone else. :)
LOL that is a good way of looking at the assets, I love it!!

@ Casey, I know exactly what you are saying. It does suck that so much Money has gone for so many other things than helping our children and their education. I have heard of what some parents have to buy for their kids at some schools and/or where teachers have to take out of their own pocket for the children. :(

@ Trukindog, thank you for your pick, for participating and telling Hoosiergirl5 about this too. Thank you also for the info. I will get to your site as soon as I can and e-mail you. :)

@ Hoosiergirl5,thank you so much for being so enthusiastic about this, it's great and very appreciated! Thank you too for the compliment about my site. :)

JJ that is awesome thank you so much!!
Apparently your first two picks were ones everyone else picked too, getting filled so fast like that before my page was even done. lol

FOR ALL:

Kirk is working on my page right now and the widget, I should have things up and running in about an hour, will let you know as soon as it is done.
Also I found out that programs/projects can keep being added to my page through out the month of Oct. at anytime and/or as they are filled.
As of right now if none are already filled we will have a total of 11 on my challenge page. I still am in the process of picking a couple to add to the 11.

Thanks a bunch everyone!!!
