Helpful Tip For Dye On Your Carpet

*
Okay I had done a post about straight Kool Aid that had been dumped on my carpet. I had tried everything:

Shout - stain remover
Simple Green
Goo Gone
An All Purpose-that usually works for everything
Oxi - Clean
Carpet shampoo stain remover

And Nothing!!!!

So my best friend and one of my sister-in-laws said I should try shoe polish, What in the ..........
I said are you guys serious, on the carpet????

Well that seems to be working for me and I am so excited. You get the color of shoe polish as close to your carpet color as possible, actually maybe even a little lighter.

You start to dab it on the stains and rub it in with a cloth, let it completely dry and start again until your carpet is the desired color you want. It actually covers the dye on the carpet and it doesn't dry sticky and gobbed together like I thought it would.

THANK YOU for this tip!!! What a great idea. I have four pets and a stain is bound to happen. I won't need the odd throw rug here and there. :D

Good morning, dear. :D

Hugs, JJ

Hugs right back! :)

What an awesome idea. This is up there with sliced bread... OK, maybe just slightly below that, but it's still really good.

BTW at least your family was spilling the Koolaid instead of drinking it ;-)

wblmom said...

@ Cube, lol it is a good idea, maybe like you said not as good as bread though!
You are so right about them spilling it and not drinking it. I know koolaid can be one of the worst things in the world to drink, but we don't add all that sugar and yuck and we use it to mix with other things for extra flavor.
BTW have you ever tried unsweetened Koolaid by it's self it is gross. :)

I meant it in the Jones-Guyana sense of everyone being forced into a belief system, but it also works in your sense. My girls drank Koolaid occasionally, and so did I growing up. Occasionally. Everything in moderation is still a good motto.

Wow that's interesting have to remember in the future if that comes up. I guess you'll find out if you shampoo rug will have to apply again. Let us know.
Thanks.

@ Cube, lol that so went over my head, I am sorry, to much going on in my brain, I guess. :)

@ Sadie it is very interesting and I will keep you all posted, when I shampoo my carpet, with the way things are going that could be next year. :)

Laurie,

You and your blog readers could help thousands of public school kids by participating in the DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge, which starts on October 1. TechCrunch, BoingBoing, Engadget, BlogHer, Curbed, and many smaller bloggers are each creating challenge pages which list specific classroom requests in public schools--and then encouraging their readers to donate to those classroom requests. We hope you will consider participating, too.

During the last DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge, blog readers donated $420,000 toward classroom projects benefiting 75,000 students in low-income communities. This October, we're hoping to have an even bigger impact, and we keenly hope you will participate. Technorati is sponsoring the "generosity rankings" and Fortune magazine will be covering the bloggers whose readers help the most public school students.

All you would need to do is:

1. Pick a few classroom requests posted on DonorsChoose.org and add them to a challenge page which takes 1-2 minutes to set up. A quick glance at our search page...
http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html?zone=0
...will show you the volume and variety of classroom needs from which to choose.

If you're pressed for time, just tell me the kinds of classroom requests (technology, arts, literature) that would speak most to your readers, and we'll set up a challenge page for you.

2. Do a post on October 1 encouraging your readers to donate to any of the classroom requests on your challenge page. Your readers can give as little as $5.

3. (Optional) Publish a widget which pulls in the classroom requests you have selected and shouts out to your blog readers who have donated to those requests. (Widgets will be available for download on Monday, and I can pass along some cool mockups if you’d like to see what they look like).

BACKGROUND ON THE CHARITY
DonorsChoose.org grew out of a high school in the Bronx where teachers saw their students going without the materials needed to learn. Our website provides an easy way for everyday people to address this problem. Public school teachers post project requests that range from a $100 classroom library, to a $600 digital projector, to a $1,000 trip to the zoo. People like you can choose which projects to fund and then get photos and thank-you letters from the classroom.

BACKGROUND ON THE 2008 DONORSCHOOSE.ORG BLOGGER CHALLENGE In October of 2007, bloggers competed to see who could rally the most support for public schools via DonorsChoose.org. Blog readers gave $420,000 to classroom projects benefiting 75,000 students in low-income communities. While A-list bloggers like Engadget and TechCrunch inspired great generosity, smaller blogs with really engaged readers generated even more!

The next DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge, running through the month of October, promises to have an even bigger impact. Technorati is sponsoring the rankings, and Fortune magazine is already committed to covering the event.

If you were to participate, we could help thousands more kids in public schools. I'd love to tell you more if you are interested.

Thank you for your consideration,
Kirk

Thanks for your interest in the DonorsChoose.org bloggers challenge! There is no problem participating if you use Adsense, and it's easy to add our widget to your sidebar if you want to do that. We have many other Adsense users participating now and in the past. I certainly understand the time crunch, and if you like, I can make a challenge page for you for projects you want (such as science projects in Minnesota, or any other types of projects), and then I can e-mail you the link, and all you'd have to do is post about it and ask your readers to donate. Let me know, and let me know an e-mail address I can send the link too. Thanks! Kirk, kirk at donorschoose dot org.

Sounds good Kirk, I will be working on this with you then. :)

Dang, Wench! I give you one little household tip and it turns into a free-for-all on the web! That's it! You're cut off! No more freebies from me! lol...just kidding. Seeing as my oldest was graduated by the time your first was born...heck, what are friends for if not to cram their own experiences down your throat! : )

FYI: shoe polish has alot of wax and an ever so slight amount of oil (usually lanolin) in it, so when you shampoo it will depend on how hot the water is. Yes, cool water will pick up about half of it, but hot water will surely lift almost all. But hey, I'm sure you didn't use the whole bottle, so you should have some left over to treat again. Note: it IS toxic, DO NOT leave it where Logan can get to it.

wblmom said...

LOL Lakelandmom, yes but I did not believe you until I tried it. Which makes me, ummmm what? The professional tester or a doubting Thomas!! :)

Hey, thanks for the tip on shampooing the carpet, I was wondering about that.

I was sitting here chuckling to myself wondering what people must think reading some of our comments back and forth, because we give each other so much crap. lol
