This does not look good at all, so much damage before it was even on land and still out to sea 200 miles.
Now that it is just approaching land I can not even imagine the kind of damage that will occur.
I realize it is not just Texas being effected, this hurricane is going to take in several states down it's path.
For all of you that are and will be in the path of Ike, our thoughts and prayers are with you, Please Be Safe!!!

This is a service from Red Cross where you can search for your family by name and address. If the person/persons you are concerned about can get to a Red Cross member, they can also post to the website that they're ok.
Update: at 9:00pm they said that 3 hundred thousand were without power. They also said by the time this hurricane is over they estimate some where around 3 million will be with out power, effecting several states.
I went ahead and took off the radar and alert gadgets now that Ike is gone, but please use the Red Cross link if you are still trying to find out about someone.

I have been up all night watching this storm. My daughter and her new husband moved to Alvin texas, just south of Houston last year. They were still at their house Friday morning, but I have not heard from her since. I don't know if they got out, or stayed
Hi Laurie. We just got the outer most rain band about 5p.m.Friday and a few showers, but I'm on the eastern side of Ike just north of Gulfport/Biloxi. Hope things are well in Mn.
lot2learn: The Red Cross website has a service where you can search for your family by name and address. If they can get to a Red Cross member, they can post it to the website that they're ok. It's a cool service, you should check it out. My prayers are with you and everyone.
