Toddlers Lack Of Sleep and Moms Drained
Well I think we are finally getting Logan on a better sleeping schedule. Thank goodness, for Logan and for me, because I have been drained and sleep deprived for so long I can't remember.
I have read so many things, helpful tips and hints, etc. on getting your toddler to sleep better with better hours and nothing really seemed to work for Logan. I had even been talking to my best friend in Florida and she told me Laurie you can not make him sleep, it is a stage he is going through and I found that to be so true.
So we had been at square one for some time, not being able to make it to circle one, lol.
Anyway the other day again Logan and mommy were up to 12:30 in the evening or morning however you want to look at it. I was beat, but still got up with my husband at 4:30 a.m. and Logan got up at 6:40 a.m. which he never does. Now instead of laying him back down, I thought this time once again I would try letting him stay up, even though I knew it was way early for him to get up.
Logan fell asleep on the couch and 8:30 a.m. I laid him in our bed and laid down with him, we slept until 11:30. I knew when we got up at that point I had to keep Logan going and no in between nap or we would be on the same schedule we had been on, awful. lol
Sure enough he was out at 8:30 p.m. last night and woke up at 6:30a.m. this morning. He will be ready for an early nap, get up early and be ready for bed early. "Well shut my mouth I can't believe it."
Sleeping has never been one of my sons loves, since he was 3 months old we have struggled with this and he has always had so much energy. This child will go and go, not want to miss a thing, be totally exhausted and still not want to fall asleep, so this is a great accomplishment.
My note to parents: Sleep is everything for toddlers and I know most of our toddler issues with Logan had been his lack of sleep and mine. They say toddlers should get easily 13 hours a day including naps and we were lucky if Logan got 9 -10.

Your best friend is right. Outside of drugging him, you can't MAKE him go to sleep. Best to let him get lots of fresh air and exercise and let him wind down naturally. If he knows you're trying to force him to sleep, he'll fight you all the more.
Yes very well put, thanks.
