This was such a special moment between my 2 year old son and myself that I thought I would share it.
It is hard sometimes when you have a toddler to really ever get a relaxing, extra special and just surreal moment together. Sometimes we as parents lose sight of the things that are so important and making the best of the toddlers years before our children are at the age that they don't want us kissing or hugging them in public, or when they get independent and entertain themselves while playing, etc.
So the other evening Logan was watching one of his Barney movies, trying to wind down before going to bed, okay I was hoping. Anyway it was about a half hour before dark, so it was later in the evening. I had this whim and thought lets go to the park, the one that is pretty much right across the street. I knew Logan wouldn't be going to sleep any time soon, because we had a crazy day and he was really off his sleeping schedule. My husband was also in bed already having to get up so early for work.
So I went up to him and said honey do you want to go to the park? He looked at me and "said mommy it's almost dark, it's to late." I told him it was okay, but we had to hurry.
Hurry meaning after a diaper change, putting shoes on and well you know.
So we headed out for our little adventure. First it was absolutely beautiful out, not hot, a slight breeze, cool enough to keep the bugs away, enjoyable. So we got to the park and it was just Logan and mommy, no one else there at all. Then as we had been playing there a neighbor down the road started doing some pre 4Th of July fireworks, really cool ones, the ones that are illegal in Minnesota.
Logan got really excited and so we walked out of the park and down the road and watched those for a while. Of course Logan loves fireworks, but they do still scare him a bit. So we cuddled standing in a parking lot watching them until they stopped. On the way walking back Logan said "mommy I don't want to go home yet" I said well we can walk around for a little while.
We walked around for a bit and headed back around the park again where they have metal tables with benches and Logan said he just wanted to sit there for a while, so we did. He pointed out every plane he saw, no matter how far up they were. Logan told about the things he wanted to do soon like the arcade and fishing. He told how much fun he had earlier in the day and so on, it was like I was like talking to a little adult.
It's not like Logan and I don't get time together, I am a stay at home mom, but this time was just different, extra special, surreal and wonderful. We didn't have gnats trying to chew our faces off or mosquito's trying to attack our bodies. There was no dare devil stunts at the park with me running around making sure Logan doesn't kill himself. The sun wasn't still beating down that the slides and bars were to hot. There was literally no one outside and it was like we were the only two people around, it was awesome.
It is hard to write down and capture everything that happened in those moments, but it was so surreal and wonderful, our little precious moment in time.

Sounds like a pretty special time, with no distractions. Only attractions.
That was exactly it.
